Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1 Patients diagnosed with chronic suppurative osteomyelitis of the mandible based on the clinical picture (pain, tenderness, fever, lymphadenitis, painful or painless swelling, intraoral and or skin fistula(e), purulent discharge, hypoesthesia of the inferior dental nerve (IAN), and trismus), radiographic examination (moth\-eaten appearance), and the histopathologic examination (necrotic bone, granulation tissue, inflammatory cells, and blood vessel thrombosis).
  • 2 The proposed resection size be 6 cm or more; however, with the presence of sufficient mandibular bone at the inferior border of the mandible following the proposed marginal resection.

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1 The more extensive involvement of the mandible necessitating segmental resection
  • 2 History of recent head or neck radiotherapy, concurrent head or neck radiotherapy, co\-presence of malignancies, kidney\-, liver\-, or heart failure, any other bone marrow diseases, and immune diseases.
