Residence in the study area and intention to stay in the area for the duration of the pregnancy and for delivery
Gestational age at the first antenatal visit = 20 weeks
Ability to comply with study procedures for the entire length of the study
Agreement to give signed informed consent
Residence outside the study area or planning to move out in the following 12 months from enrollment
Gestational age at the first antenatal visit > 20 weeks of pregnancy
Known history of allergy to sulfa drugs
Known history of severe renal, hepatic, psychiatric or neurological disease
Participating in other intervention studies
No access to a mobile phone in the family
