1.Participants of either sex in the age group equal or more than 21years.
2.Patients meeting the Rome IV diagnostic criteria for functional constipation were included
The criteria included experiencing two or more of the following:
a. Straining during at least 25% of defecations
b. Lumpy or hard stool in at least 25% of defecation.
c. Sensation of incomplete evacuation for at least 25% of defecations
d. Sensation of anorectal obstruction/blockage for at least 25% of defecations
e. Manual maneuvers to facilitate at least 25% of defecations (e.g., digital evacuation, support of the pelvic floor)
f. Fewer than three defecations per week
3.Loose stools are rarely present without the use of laxatives.
Patients using laxative medication (past 3days) and/or those on medications known to cause constipation (such as opioid analgesics, antidepressants, anticonvulsants).
Individuals with a known case of megacolon/megarectum and obstructive cause of constipation.
Cases with known HIV/AIDS, cancer, etc.
Those with a known hypersensitivity to the study drug or any of its ingredients.
Pregnant and lactating females.
Individuals with Diabetes Mellitus.
