1. Diagnosed as having T2DM more than 6 months back (HbA1c value >= 6.5% or fasting plasma glucose (>= 126 mg/dL) or 2 hour plasma glucose level of (>= 200 mg/dL) or random plasma glucose of >=200)
2. Taking treatment for Diabetes (Oral glycemic agents or Insulin or both or Lifestyle modification or any other treatment)
3. All aspects of the protocol are explained and written informed consent obtained
1. Age less than 18 years.
2. Patients who are currently on steroid therapy for any reason or have taken steroids in the last 3 months.
Those who have not given their informed consent to participate in the study.
Pregnant or lactating females.
Serum creatinine >=2mg/dl (180µmol/l) or the presence of any serious concomitant disease limiting life expectancy.
