Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\)Infants of 0 to 6 months age, of either sex, posted for elective / emergency surgeries under general anaesthesia
- •2\)ASA physical status I \& II
- •3\)Patients with normal cardiorespiratory function
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\)Refusal by parents for the procedure
- •2\)Infants with fever, upper respiratory tract infection, anaemia(Hb\-12gm%), obstructive sleep apnoea(OSA), protein energy malnutrition, overweight(greater then weight for age)
- •3\)Surgeries requiring nasal intubation
- •4\)History of significant systemic disorders, known congenital heart diseases, hypotension (systolic BP \<60mmHg) and infants with desaturation before the induction of anaesthesia (SpO2 \<94%)
- •5\)Infants with anatomical nasal defects (nasal obstruction) and obvious congenital syndromes
- •6\)Infants with anticipated difficult airway
