Inclusion Criteria

Written informed consent for participation in study.

Age: 40yrs-75yrs.

Either gender.

ASA physical status I, II and III.

Patients undergoing opthalmic sugeries under peribulbar anaesthesia

Exclusion Criteria

Refusal of consent.

Baseline heart rate <60/min.

Hypovolemia with systolic blood pressure <90mmhg.

Chronic respiratory illness.

Difficult intubation.

Mobitz type II or type III AV block.

Chronic renal failure.

Hepatic impairement.

Psychiatric illness.

Hypertension

To monitor the following parameters, in cataract surgery during MAC using two different loading doses of dexmedetomidine: <br/ ><br>1)onset of time of sedation <br/ ><br>2)arterial oxygen saturation-SpO2 <br/ ><br>3)sedation score <br/ ><br>4)respiratory rate <br/ ><br>5)patientâ??s satisfaction <br/ ><br>6)surgeon satisfaction <br/ ><br>Timepoint: the above mentioned parameters will be assessed at baseline,5 mins,10 mins,15 mins,30 mins and 45 mins after administration of the drug
