Timed Up & Go Test for Predicting Postoperative Morbidity In Elderly Patients Undergoing Major Abdominal Surgery.

Brief Summary

A total of 170participants aged 60 years or above shall be recruited. Patients, as a part oftheir treatment undergoing planned major surgery involving the abdomen, will beincluded in the study from the department of general surgery , GI Surgery, and Oncosurgey Kasturba Hospital Manipal. After Obtaining Informed Consent, Patients Aged 60 And Upward WhoAre Candidates For  Major Abdominal Surgery Will Be Included In TheStudy. After Explaining The Procedure, The TUG Test Will Be Administered AtTheir Bedside. TUG Is The Time It Takes A Patient To Get Out Of A Chair, WalkThree Meters, And Return To The Chair. A Stopwatch Is Used To Measure This InSeconds, With The Time Recorded In The Proforma. Other Variables To BeDocumented Include Demographic Information, Preoperative Investigations,Neo-Adjuvant Chemotherapy, Intraoperative Findings, Monitoring, And So On. MorbidityIn The First 30 Days After Surgery Will Be Documented Using The Clavien-Dindoo Classification.Post-Operative Follow-Up Will Be Done Until Discharge And For One Month from the date of surgery ThroughTelephonic Conversation And /or OPD Review.

Inclusion Criteria

: Patients Aged 60 Or Above Undergoing Major Elective Abdominal Surgery In The General Surgery Department, GIS Department, Oncosurgeryat KH, Manipal.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients aged less than 60 years, Non Ambulatory patient due to stroke, injury, arthritis,etc Emergency Abdominal surgery, Patient not willing to participate in the study,.
