1. Hoehn and Yahr stage I to III
2. ability to walk independently
3. stable medication usage
4. a score of at least 24 on the mini-mental state examination (MMSE)

Exclusion Criteria

1. unstable medical conditions
2. history of other neurological, cardiopulmonary, or orthopedic diseases known to interfere with participation in the study
