Inclusion Criteria
1) patients with angle closure defined by the presence of iridotrabecular contact of at least 180 degrees, which can be either appositional or synechial.
2) patients with visually significant cataract with visual acuity worse than 20/50.
Exclusion Criteria
1) presence or history of any cause of secondary glaucoma, including traumatic glaucoma, uveitic glaucoma, neovascular glaucoma, phacomorphic glaucoma, and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma
2) history of previous intraocular surgery.
