- Brief Summary
Back disorders aremajor cause of sickness, absence and disability in working population andincidence of low back pain rises sharply in early adulthood. Low back pain has multifactorial etiology andcomplex pathogenesis as it is considered to be dynamic and fluctuating condition. For literally hundreds of yearsthe back has been symbol of strength and focus of stress. In 20thcentury back pain was major factor of medical disaster. The backpain affects up to 85%-90% of the populationat some stage of their lives.
Musculoskeletaldisorders involves wide range of conditionssuch as low back pain, osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, frozen shoulderbut among all this conditions the incidence of low back pain is at peak inelderly working population. Farming has been consider a high riskoccupation for musculoskeletal disorders.as it is associated with high workloadespecially with heavy lifting, bending, twisting, carrying load and heavyexposure to vibration. The prevalence of low back pain is 60% amongfarmers as compared to other musculoskeletal disorders.
In recent decade theprinciple key elements in treatment of low back pain have largely been pain relievingtechniques such as traction ,relaxation, rest and prevented exercises. supervised group exercise, as an adjunct to usual care, would improve pain, range of motion, level of functioningand quality of life for individuals with musculoskeletal disorders and thatbeneï¬ts would be maintained forsix months to 1 year the intervention.
