Inclusion Criteria
1.American Society of Anaesthesiologists Physical Status I and II patients.
2.Patients undergoing elective laparoscopic surgery under general anaesthesia, lasting upto 2 hours .
3.Both male and female patients in the age group 18â??60 years.
Exclusion Criteria
1.Patient refusal or unwillingness to participate in the study.
2.ASA>=III
3.Patients allergic to dexmedetomidine.
4.Those who have coexisting cardio-respiratory disease e.g. ventricular dysfunction.
5.Patients with AV Block.
6.Patients on chronic beta blocker and opioid therapy.
7.Metabolic disease, endocrine disease, renal disease
8.Patients with morbid obesity i.e., BMI>=30 Kg/m2.
9.Pregnancy and lactation
