简要总结

This cross sectional study aims to determine the relationship between perception of illness and pain in patients following total knee arthroplasty. 32 individuals between 45 -65 years, post total knee arthroplasty (TKA) will be screened for inclusion and exclusion criteria, an informed consent will be obtained from the participants and the study procedure will be explained to the subjects after which measurements of the outcome measures (Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire, Visual Analogue Scale, Time Up and Go test and Oxford Knee Score) will be recorded on the same day. An initial examination including demographic data will be documented. All measurements will be documented on the day of discharge during the hospital stay following the arthroplasty surgery.

入选标准

  • Individuals who have undergone TKA for knee OA and undergoing post-operative rehabilitation according to the standardised protocols
  • Individuals who can ambulate with or without assistive devices
  • Individuals who are willing to participate.

排除标准

  • Individuals with rheumatoid arthritis
  • Individuals undergoing revision surgery
  • Individuals with other musculoskeletal or Neurological impairments that may affect ambulation or those adviced not to weight-bear otherwise
  • Individuals unable to understand the administered questionnaires
  • Individuals who do not give consent.
