Elective video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for lung surgery
American Society of Anesthesiologists Classification 1-3
Body mass index > 35 kg/m2, pre-existing neuropathy (assessed by history and physical examination), history of previous thoracic surgery, significant thoracic kyphoscoliosis, coagulopathy (platelets < 100,000/mL or INR > 1.4), allergy or contraindicated to medications used in study protocol, suspected newly diagnosed diabetes mellitus on the initial screening (preoperative fasting POC glucose > 126 mg/d), uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (HbA1C > 7%), chronic opioid use, chronic systemic corticosteroid use, active infectious condition and refuse to participate
