Inclusion Criteria

  • All patients within the age range of 18 to 65 years old.
  • American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classes I or II.
  • Scheduled for midline laparotomy.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Refusal of the patient to give informed consent.
  • Allergy or contraindication to any of the study drugs.
  • Renal, cardiovascular, central nervous system, respiratory, gastrointestinal diseases.
  • Infection at the block site.
  • Fibromyalgia, chronic pain and those taking opioid analgesics.
