Patients aged between 2 and 18 years presenting AD will be enrolled. The diagnosis of AD is based on the criteria defined by Hanifin and Rajka. The criteria included a SCORAD index > = 20. No other systemic illnesses or history of other probiotics during the past 4 weeks were included in the study.
Exclusion criteria included: 1) severe hypersensitivity to medication or usual sun exposure, 2) administration of immunosuppressant in the previous 3 months, 3) administration of systemic corticosteroids or phototherapy in the previous 1 month, 4) concomitant other skin diseases, 5) History of taking probiotics during >= 1 week in the previous 4 weeks, and 6) a reduction in the SCORAD index less than 20 within 2 weeks of the initial washout period.
