Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1.Control group: 30 Normotensive (age and gestational age matched to cases) pregnant female planned for caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia
- •2.Study group 2: Severely preeclamptic pregnant females who have received magnesium sulphate planned for caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia
- •Criteria for severe pre-eclampsia 18
- •Increased bloodpressure (BP; systolic BP is 140 mmHg or a diastolicBP is 90 mmHginawoman who was normotensiveprior to 20 weeks of gestation) accompanied byproteinuria(0.3 g protein in a 24-hour specimen) or increased BPaccompanied by one ormore severe complications of maternal end organ damage evenin the absence of proteinuria like
- •1. Renal involvement with creatinine > 90 µmol/L
- •2. Liver involvement with elevatedtransaminases and/or severe right upper quadrant or epigastric pain.
- •3. Neurological complications like eclampsia, altered mental status, blindness, strokeor more commonly hyperreflexia whenaccompanied by clonus, severe heada-cheswhenaccompanied by hyperreflexia, and persistentvisual scotomata.
- •4. Hematological complications (thrombocytopenia,disseminated intravascular coa-gulation or hemolysis)
- •5. Uteroplacental dysfunction (fetal growth restriction)
Exclusion Criteria
- •1.Patient Refusal
- •2. Contraindications of spinal anesthesia
- •3. Short stature <140 cm
- •4. Allergy to any drugs used
- •5. Chronic hypertension, Eclampsia
- •6. Chronic renal disease, Hyperthyroidism, seizure disorder, noninsulin dependent di-abetes mellitus, severe anemia
- •7. Twin gestation
- •8. Autoimmune disorders
- •9. Presence of ocular injuries or prior ocular surgery.
