Inclusion Criteria

- Clinical history of asthma symptoms.
- Age 5 through 7 years.
- Use of maintenance corticosteroids/combination medication.
- Ability to perform reproducible lung function tests, i.e. coefficient of the predicted value variation in 3 of 5 consecutive measurements < 5%.

Exclusion Criteria

- Exacerbation in the last 4 weeks prior to the ECT (no hospital admission or use of systemic corticosteroids).
- Use of long acting bronchodilators 24 hours before testing.
- Use of short acting bronchodilators 8 hours before testing.
- Use of leukotriene antagonists 24 hours before testing.
- Other pulmonary or cardiac disorder.
- History of ECT.
- Severe EIB; Fall of FEV1 (or FEV0.5) > 50% at ECT requiring medication change.

<p>Differences in adherence rates and perceptions about illness and medication<br /><br>before and after ECT in children with exercise induced bronchoconstriction.<br /><br>Illness perceptions and medication perceptions are measured by validated<br /><br>questionnaires six weeks before the ECT, immediately after the ECT and six<br /><br>weeks after the ECT. Adherence to medication is measured by an electronic<br /><br>logging device in the six weeks before and the six weeks after the ECT. </p><br>
