Inclusion Criteria

Patients who required intubation and mechanical ventilation at least 48 hours and were over 18 years of age

Exclusion Criteria

Patients die before or during weaning
Patients are transferred to another ward or another hospital
Patients have an unplanned extubation before or during weaning eg accidental or self extubation
Patients undergo a tracheostomy before or during weaning
Patients cannot press on handgrip device
Patients who are on treatment with vasopressor or inotrope
Patients who require re intubation
