Inclusion Criteria
Neonates with severe birth asphyxia defined as cord blood pH of less than 7.00 and base deficit of more than or equal to 16 mmol per Litre
Exclusion Criteria
1. Antenatally detected renal malformation
2. Gross congenital malformations
3. Refusal of consent
