Inclusion Criteria
neonates more than 34 weeks of gestation, hemodynamically stable and not requiring NICU care
Exclusion Criteria
Babies born to mother having : HIV , Hepatitis B, active tuberculosis
Babies born to mother with suspected septecemia : fever with rash in the mother , features of urinary tract infection, prolonged rupture of membranes ( >18 hours)
babies by mothers side but on antibiotics

Name Time Method Prevention of harmful microorganism colonization of umbilical stump and study of cord separation timeTimepoint: In one group 4% chlorhexidine will be applied over umbilical stump once daily and in the other group nil intervention will be practised . First umbilical swab sample will be taken within 3 hours of life and second at around 120 hours and sent for culture .
