入选标准
- •Chronic liver disease patients presenting with first episode of variceal bleeding and consenting for the study
排除标准
- •1. Failure to give consent to participate in the study
- •2. Previous medical, surgical or endoscopic treatment for portal hypertension.
- •3. Child-Pugh score >9
- •4. Neoplastic disease of any site
- •5. Splenic or portal vein thrombosis
- •6. Pregnancy
- •7. Contraindication to beta-blockers (atrioventricular block, sinus bradycardia with heart rate <50 beats per minute, arterial hypotension with systolic blood pressure <90 mm Hg, heart failure, asthma, peripheral arterial disease, or diabetes needing insulin treatment)
- •8. Renal failure
- •9. Bleeding other than esophageal varix
- •10. Inability to come for follow up
