Group I: Periodontally healthy subjects with no signs of periodontal disease and smoking.
Group II: Current Smokers with untreated stage III periodontitis, PPD >= 6 mm and CAL >= 5mm.
Group III: Non-smokers with untreated stage III periodontitis, PPD >= 6mm and CAL >= 5mm.
1. Patients with self-reported psychiatric disorders or on anti-psychotic medications.
2. Patients with any systemic disease.
3. Pregnant and post-menopausal women.
4. Patients with history of antibiotic intake within 6 weeks.
5. Patients undergoing corticosteroids or immune-suppressive therapy.
6. Patients with symptoms of acute illness.
