•Arterial hypertension with a systolic blood pressure value > 150 mmHg and/or a diastolic blood pressure value > 90 mmHg at the initial measurement on at least one upper arm on the first examination date.
•- Sufficient knowledge of German to understand the subject information.
•- Present and signed informed consent to participate in the study as well as privacy policy.

•- Blood pressure values that are elevated to such an extent that they require immediate medical care, according to the assesment of the study director (practicing physician).
•- Conditions such as NYHA stage IV heart failure, advanced tumor disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
•- Pronounced polyneuropathy of the hands.
•- Skin eczema that does not allow to perform hot arm baths.
•- Dementia or psychiatric diseases that would interfere with study conduct according to protocol.
•- History of drug use or alcohol abuse at > 60 g/day in the past three months.
•- Pregnancy or lactation.
•- Severely limited mobility.
•- Life expectancy less than three months.
•- Participation in another study in the past four weeks.
•- Any finding that, in the judgment of the study director, renders the potential participant unsuitable for study participation.
