Inclusion Criteria
All adults >18 years of age admitted to medical wards with the diagnosis of dengue or scrub typhus infection confirmed by serological tests will be recruited in our study
Exclusion Criteria
Patients with evidence of a primary focus of infection(eg:consolidation on chest x-ray, symptoms and signs of urinary tract infection, cellulitis) are excluded
Patients with concurrent culture proven bacterial infections
Presence of concomitant febrile illnesses along with dengue or scrub typhus infection such as malaria, leptospirosis, typhoid and influenza
