To develop and implement a Maternal Education Program for mothers of preterm infants admitted in the NICU and to evaluate the effectiveness of the program on mothers confidence in breastfeeding and feeding skills of the infant.

Inclusion Criteria
1. Preterm infants off ventilator support weighing
<1500gm and gestational age ⩽ 32 weeks.
2. Mothers of preterm infants with working
knowledge of English or Tamil.
3. Consent from the mothers.
Exclusion Criteria
1. Mothers of babies who have known postpartum
depression or psychosis.
2. Infants with major respiratory, cardiovascular,
gastrointestinal and neurological disorders or
syndromes and their mothers.
3. Infants with congenital facial deformities.
