Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Chronic kidney disease 3, 4 or hypertensive (\> 130/80\)
- •Are the trial subjects under 18? no
- •Number of subjects for this age range:
- •F.1\.2 Adults (18\-64 years) no
- •F.1\.2\.1 Number of subjects for this age range
- •F.1\.3 Elderly (\>\=65 years) yes
- •F.1\.3\.1 Number of subjects for this age range
Exclusion Criteria
- •Likely to develop chronic kidney disease within one year
- •Poor mobility precluding completion of assessment
- •BP prior to antihypertensive withdrawl \> 160/90
- •Severe peripheral vascular disease
- •Heart failure (BYHA III/IV) or other cause to prevent diuretic withdrawl
- •Atrial fibrillation (precludes PWV measurement)
- •Recent acute illness (within the last 3 months)
- •IHD requiring beta\-bloackade (nitrates/nicorandil are permitted)
- •Obstructive uropathy
- •Malignant hypertension
