Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •All patients with renal dysfunction due to any etiology who have been prescribed heparin-free hemodialysis from a nephrologist will be considered eligible for this study if they are above 18 years of age and satisfy ANY of the following criteria
- •1)Patients suffering from thrombocytopenia (Platelet < 50,000/cumm).
- •2)Patients with coagulopathy with either INR > 2 or aPTT > 40 seconds.
- •3)Patients with evidence of acute or active bleeding from any site.
- •4)Patients suffering from any bleeding diathesis.
- •5)Patients receiving any form of systemic anticoagulation in therapeutic doses.
Exclusion Criteria
- •Patients who meet ANY of the following criteria will be excluded:
- •1)Patients unable to attain and tolerate hemodialysis at blood flow >= 250ml/min.
- •2)Patient planned to receive blood products during hemodialysis.
- •3)Patients suffering from a known thrombophilic state.
- •4)Patient unwilling to give written informed consent to participate in the study.
