Inclusion Criteria

Hospitalized children presented with fastbreathing (respiratory rate more than 50 breaths/min in children < 12 months of age or >40 breaths/min in children >=12 months of age) and/or chest indrawing and crepitation on chest auscultation.

Exclusion Criteria

1. patients who need mechanical ventilator
2. patients with a history of chronic illness such as chronic pulmonary diseases, asthma or congenital heart diseases
3. patients who were previously taking zinc supplementation
4. known allergy or intolerance to zinc or zinc containing products
