The predictors for severe attack will include presence of SIRS on admission or 48 hours later; or presence of obesity; or clinical suspicion of severity; or Glasgow (Imrie) score or Ransonâ??s score of 3 or more, or Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score greater than 8 within 48 hours after admission. All of these indicators have been previously established and are recommended to predict a severe attack.
