Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Patients of physical status I and II according to American Society of Anesthesiologists
  • (ASA) who are without comorbidities ,scheduled for elective middle ear surgery under
  • general anaesthesia.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients with severe obesity (body mass index greater than 35),
  • renal insufficiency (serum creatinine more than 1.6 mg/dl),
  • liver dysfunction (serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase/ serum glutamic pyruvic
  • transaminase values more than 50% of normal),
  • patients with difficult airways,
  • cardiorespiratory abnormalities (Diabetes, Hypertension, New York Heart Association
  • heart failure grades 3 and 4, obstructive and restrictive lung diseases),
  • , pregnant, currently breast feeding women,
  • history of sleep apnea planned / emergency surgeries in neck and oral cavity.
