Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Adult ASA Physical status 2 patients, of either sex, scheduled for elective surgery, on regular and compliant anti\-hypertensive treatment, labelled as controlled with not a single BP reading of \>140/90 mm Hg within the past 7 days.

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\. Co\-morbid conditions like diabetes, epilepsy, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, known adrenal insufficiency, obstetric, cervical spine surgery patients, a history of MI/ stroke/ renal failure.
  • 2\. Known sensitivity to propofol/ thiopentone/ etomidate/ opioids/ barbiturates/ egg/ soyabean and history of use of propofol/ thiopental/ etomidate within 1 week pre\-operatively.
  • 3\. Anticipated difficult airway ( Modified Mallampati Grade III and IV ) and obese patients who have BMI of and above 30 kg/metre2\.
