Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •oRetained placenta for at least 30 minutes (or 60 minutes in physiological management)
- •oWritten informed consent
- •oEstimated gestation of at least 24 weeks
- •oParticipants should be over 18 years of age, or over 16 and ‘Gillick competent’.
Exclusion Criteria
- •oSignificant vaginal bleeding or maternal haemodynamic instability (Pulse \> 100bpm or systolic blood pressure \<100mmHg) necessitating immediate placental removal
- •oStillborn baby
- •oWomen requiring English translation
- •oWomen without time for ultrasound assessment before they go to theatre, or in whom ultrasound would delay normal management.
