To study the effect of blocking lower limb nerves (arising from lumbar and sacral plexus) with single point puncture in the supine position for pain relief after lower limb orthopaedic surgery and its comparison with the most commonly used technique (lumbar epidural) for the same.

1. Adult patients aged more than 18 years,
2. Belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status 1-3,
3. Belonging to either sex,
4. Scheduled for unilateral lower limb orthopaedic surgery
1. Patient who refused to participate,
2. Patients who require activation of lumber epidural intraoperatively.
3. Pregnant female,
4. Patient with baseline cognitive deficits sufficient to make objective pain assessment unreliable,
5. Patients with coagulopathy, liver and renal dysfunction,
6. Preoperative neurological deficits and allergy to amide local anaesthetics.
