1. Patients requiring emergency laparotomy admitted to emergency surgical OPD whom a surgical abdominal operation could not be postponed.
2. Midline incision length greater than 5cm
3.Both genders
4. Patients giving informed consent.
1. Midline laparotomy measuring less than one-fourth the distance between the xyphoid and the pubis (including laparoscopic access)
2. Diagnosis of incisional hernia or presence of previous mesh
3. Midline incision less than 5cm
4. Bogota/ delayed wall closure
5. Patient on immunosuppressive therapy
6. Malignancy
