Children under 6 months of age will be eligible if all following criteria are met:
•Children admitted to hospitals having clinical diagnosis of severe pneumonia. Severe pneumonia is defined as the manifestation of cough or difficulty in breathing, plus at least one of these symptoms: severe respiratory distress such as grunting, very severe chest indrawing; central cyanosis or oxygen saturation <90% on pulse oximetry; or signs of pneumonia with a general danger sign, for example, inability to breastfeed or drink, lethargy, reduce level of unconscious, or convulsions .
•Children whose parent(s) or Legally Acceptable Representative(s) (LAR(s)) accept to sign on an informed consent form.
Cases who meet the following criteria will be excluded:
•Children whose parent (s) or LAR are unable to consent.
