Inclusion Criteria

  • All patients older than 18 years of age, diagnosed with symptomatic grade III or IV internal hemorrhoids during the study period were evaluated for inclusion in the trial.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Exclusion criteria included any mental or neurologic disease preventing collaboration in the study or patients who could neither read nor write; recurrent hemorrhoids after previous surgical treatments; pre-existing fecal incontinence; anal sphincter lesions; previous anorectal surgery; other concomitant anorectal disease (eg, anal fistula, anal fissure, IBD); American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA) physical status classification IV and V patients; history of allergy to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), acetaminophen, or narcotics; coagulation disorders; pregnancy and lactation; and patient rejection of written consent.
