Primary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
Incidence of acute postoperative renal injury assessed within the first five days and two weeks after surgery according to the criteria proposed by the Acute Kidney Injury Network (AKIN), based on the creatinine values in plasma. For this purpose, plasma creatinine will be assessed within five days after surgery and two weeks after the surgical procedure, being an increase in serum creatinine greater than 1.5 times or an increase of more than 0.3 mg.dL when compared to the preoperative value, as well as a urine output lower than 0.5 mL.kg.h in 6 hours.
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
Incidence of chronic renal failure requiring renal replacement therapy at 30 and 90 days, as well as mortality at 30 and 90 days, will be considered.

The need for renal replacement therapy considering the following indications: serum urea greater than 150 mg.dL with uremic symptoms; urine output less than 100 ml every twelve hours refractory to diuretics; serum potassium greater than 5.5 mmol.L refractory to medical treatment; pH less than 7.2 and serum bicarbonate less than 16 mEq.L in the arterial blood gas.
