secondary hyperparathyroidism patient with any indication for surgery
-persist hyperparathyroid level (> 800 pg/ml at least 6 months)
-persist hypercalcemia (>10.2 mg/dl) or hyperphosphatemia (>5.5 mg/dl)
-presence of hyperparathyroid symptom
-calciphylaxis
-anemia unresponsive to erythropoietin
-history of complication from hyperparathyroid medication
-unsuitable for surgery
-history of parathyroidectomy
-primary or tertiary hyperparathyroidism
-history of neck radiation
-failure to identify all 4 parathyroid glands during surgery
