1. Patients with ARDS as per Berlin definition of ARDS (acute in onset, meaning onset over 1 week or less, bilateral opacities must be present and may be detected on chest radiograph, PaO2/FiO2 ratio <300mmHg with a minimum of 5 cmH20 Positive End-Expiratory Pressure
{PEEP}, and must not be fully explained by cardiac failure or fluid overload).
2. Patients aged 18-90 years of age.
3. Patients with ARDS who are intubated and are on invasive mechanical ventilation.
1. More than 24 hours elapsed since admission to ICU with ARDS.
2. ARDS patients on - corticosteroid and tocilizumab, sarilumab, disease-modifying anti- rheumatoid drugs (which can alter levels of inflammatory mediators).
3. Patients with hematological malignancies (altered lymphocyte, neutrophil counts)
4. Patients diagnosed with cardiogenic pulmonary oedema (which can alter the lung ultrasound findings).
5. Patients not expected to survive the next 24-48 hours with the SOFA score on ARDS diagnosis being >= 22.
6. Non-invasive Ventilator (NIV) ARDS patients.
