Inclusion Criteria
Adult patients (18 years of age and older) undergoing major open colonic surgery in the MUMC+ / OMC
o Right hemicolectomy
o Left hemicolectomy
o Low Anterior resection
o Hartmann*s procedure
• Patients who have given an informed consent
Exclusion Criteria
A potential subject who meets any of the following criteria will be excluded from participation in this study:
< 18 years of age
* Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
* Acute major colonic procedures
* Patients who have refused informed consent
* Laparoscopic colonic procedures
