Age range of 30-55 years, diagnosed with generalized periodontitis as per World Workshop Classification criteria, who had not received periodontal therapy, within preceding six months, periodontal pocket depth of = 5mm after phase I periodontal therapy, presence of 2- or 3-walled intra-bony defects (IBDs) with radiographic depth =3 mm and platelet count >2,00,000/mm3
Patients who were smokers and alcoholics, pregnant, lactating females and post-menopausal women, if they had vitamin D deficiency, systemically compromised patients and those on medications (corticosteroids/ bisphosphonate, statin therapy, blood thinners) that may interfere with wound healing, grade II and grade III tooth mobility, patients who had undergone periodontal treatment within a period of past 1 year and patients with systemic conditions like blood dyscrasias, allergic reactions, renal, cardiovascular, liver, pulmonary diseases, uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension.
