1. Kidney transplantation recipients and donors under follow-up in a kidney transplantation program.
Six site involved in this consortium have significant experience with clinical trial in transplantation.

2. Male and female recipients and donors of all races, 0-80 years of age.
3. Patients undergoing primary or re-do deceased-donor or living donor
kidney transplantation.
4. Ability to provide informed consent.
Patients who meet any of these criteria are not eligible for enrollment as study participants:
1. Patients undergoing combined organ transplantation.
2. Patients who are recipients of previous non-renal solid organ and/or
islet cell transplantation.
3. HCV or HIV infection.
4. Inability or unwillingness of a participant to provide informed consent.
