This study deals with treatment of patients with enlarged tonsils of age 7 to 14 years. A medicated alkali will be applied to the tonsils once and examination will be done on 24th hour and 8th day.

1) Children between 7-14 years of age, irrespective of gender, religion, socio-economic status
2) The subjects are selected based on the grading above 3 of tonsilar hypertrophy i.e.,
3 â??Enlarged within posterior pillars
4 â??Enlarged beyond pillars
5 â??Kissing tonsils with sleep apnoea
3) Children whose parents are willing to sign the informed assent form
1. Children with Acute tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, Acute otitis media, tonsilar cyst
2. Children suffering from any acute systemic illness
3. Children suffering from any Congenital anomalies, inborn errors of metabolism
