Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Adult ( \>18yrs) type 2 diabetes mellitus patients Uncontrolled diabetes (HbA1c: 7\.5 \- 8\.5\)
  • On stable treatment for the past 3 months

Exclusion Criteria

  • Type 1 diabetes mellitus
  • Elderly patients ( \>65 yrs)
  • Patients on insulin therapy
  • Pregnant or lactating women
  • Known macrovascular complications
  • GI manifestations of DM autonomic neuropathy
  • Lactose intolerance Irritable Bowel syndrome Addictions such as alcohol Diabetic ketoacidosis Hyperglycemic hyperosmolar syndrome
