Brief Summary
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured nurses training program on geriatric mental health care among nurses working in elder care facilities in and around Bangalore using a quasi-experimental one group pretest posttest design. The training includes a one-day offline workshop at NIMHANS followed by 10 weeks of online sessions covering key topics through lectures video modules case-based discussions and self-paced learning Primary outcomes knowledge and skill will be assessed using structured questionnaires OSCE checklists and self-report scales at three time points pretest, posttest, and followup A sample of 40 nurses will be selected using convenience sampling Data will be analyzed using SPSS employing both descriptive and inferential statistics, including RM ANOVA Ethical approvals and institutional permissions will be obtained. This study addresses the urgent need to build geriatric mental health capacity among nurses in India to improve care quality for the aging population

Inclusion Criteria
- •Nurses working in Eldercare facilities.
- •Nurses who provide direct patient care and oversee the work of caretakers.
- •Nurses who are professionally qualified Registered Nurses with GNM and above.
Exclusion Criteria
- •Nurses who have already done any certificate course or training program on Geriatric Mental Health.
- •Nurses who are on Maternity Leave/ long leave more than two months from the working area.
