- Acute blunt traumatic brain injury with intracranial abnormalities on the initial computed tomography (CT) scan consistent with head trauma, initial Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score =8 or GCS score deteriorating to =8 within 24 hrs following injury and need for ICP monitoring (determined by the responsible neurosurgeon), intubation, mechanical ventilation and continuous sedation.
