The effect of dexmedetomidine sedation on intracranial and cerebral perfusion pressures in patients with acute severe brain injury

Conditions
Acute blunt traumatic brain injury with intracranial abnormalities on the initial computed tomography (CT) scan consistent with head trauma, initial Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score =8 or GCS score deteriorating to =8 within 24 hrs following injury and need for ICP monitoring (determined by the responsible neurosurgeon), intubation, mechanical ventilation and continuous sedation.
