Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • all patients posted for mitral valve surgery

Exclusion Criteria

  • a. History of symptomatic cerebrovascular disease with residual deficit,
  • b. History of psychiatric illness (any clinical diagnoses requiring therapy)
  • c. Significant hepatic insufficiency (liver function tests \>1\.5times the upper limit of normal),
  • d. Significant renal insufficiency (creatinine levels \>2 mg/dl)
  • e. Patients with primary pulmonary disease will be excluded by history, physical examination and radiological investigation
  • f. Patients with musculoskeletal involvement of the chest and thoracic spine were not taken.
  • g. Patient refusal
