- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Physiological measures of stress-experiencing (saliva cortisol, saliva-alpha-amylase levels) will be recorded from PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder) - patients and their treating therapists at 5 measure points that take place before, during, and after a confrontative-session as well as before, during, and after a control condition (goal attainment scaling). Furthermore, data from therapists concerning their therapeutic expertise, their attitude toward confrontative, and their perceived therapeutic competence will be collected.
The visual analog scale will be applied to patients and therapists at 5 measure points of confrontative-session and control condition to evaluate their momentary perceived level of stress-experiencing. Additionally, at the end of each session patients and therapists assess their perceived therapeutic success concerning the respective session.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Clinical diagnosis of patients (structured clinical interview, SKID), ratings of global symptom severity (e.g., Symptom Checklist (SCL-90)) and questionnaires for specific disorder symptoms (e.g., PCL-5 for PTSD) via self-assessment.
The interview is conducted by independent diagnosticians within the time frame of the probatory sessions. Questionnaire data is collected after the interview.
The interview and the questionnaires mentioned above are conducted before the regular therapeutic sessions (i.e. before the experimental condition and the control condition)
