Brief Summary

Thisstudy is a single institution, Observational follow up study to assessincidence of acute kidney injury (KDIGO stage 1 and higher) in patientsundergoing emergency laparotomy under general anaesthesia (within first 7 days)will be conducted in AIIMS Rishikesh. We hypothesized that acute kidney injuryfollowing emergency laparotomy is same in all age groups and there is no genderbased differences. Primary outcome is to know number patients discharged andprolonged hospital stay after acute kidney injury after emergency laparotomy.Secondary outcomes will be morbidity, mortality due to AKI after emergency laparotomy.

Inclusion Criteria

ASA Classification -I/II/III/IV.

Exclusion Criteria
  • Patients who are diagnosed with end stage renal disease on maintenance haemodialysis 2.
  • Patients who have pre-operative acute renal failure [defined as clinical condition associated with rapid increase in blood urea and rising serum creatinine >3mg/dl in 24hrs prior to surgery] 3.
  • Primary obstructive urological disease 4.
  • Patients with left ventricular ejection fraction <45% 5.
  • Patients who have chronic liver disease.
