简要总结
The study titled “Physical Activity Amongst Neuro-Physiotherapy Students and Practitioners – A Mixed Method” explores the physical activity (PA) behaviors, barriers, and facilitators among students and practitioners of neuro-physiotherapy. Recognizing the crucial role these professionals play in promoting PA for patients with neurological disorders, the research highlights a gap in literature regarding their own engagement in PA. Using a mixed-method design combining the IPAQ-LF questionnaire and the Photovoice technique, the study aims to assess not only the activity levels but also the contextual challenges faced by this group. Prior research indicates inconsistent PA engagement among physiotherapists, with common barriers including academic pressure, time constraints, and low motivation. Interestingly, those who actively engage in PA are more likely to counsel patients effectively, yet knowledge of official PA guidelines remains uneven. The Photovoice method empowers participants to document their real-life experiences with PA, using visual narratives to analyze environmental, institutional, and psychological influences through the SHOWeD technique. The research is grounded in participatory action principles and aims to both assess and inspire change by revealing modifiable factors affecting PA engagement. Ultimately, the study seeks to enhance the role-modeling capacity of neuro-physiotherapists, improve their health behavior, and, by extension, strengthen the care provided to patients with neurological impairments. By focusing on this understudied subgroup through a novel approach, the research aspires to inform institutional policies, curriculum design, and wellness initiatives.
